Description: “Your dreams and visions for your church and your life may be big, but where do they fit in the grand scheme of things? Following Him is not just an individual sport. When Scripture “comes off the page” and into our lives, it can generate corporate as well as individual models that build God’s dream for His church in the earth.”

Following Jesus into the Civil Arena!
The Civil Trial of the Messiah: Notes

The Nicene Creed, the declaration of the key tenets of Christian Faith for most Christians across the world, references three human beings: Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and one proper name, Pontius Pilate. Pilate’s inclusion seems immaterial to the theology of the Creed…or not. Is Pilate, the representative of secular government. a most ironic inclusion and essential to our faith? Or is it a mere historical conversation piece

Pilate and Jesus are the state vs. the individual, they are free will vs. destination, A politician reading his poll numbers vs. a prophet, skepticism vs. truth, and each of us vs. God.

Can the dialogue between Pilate and Jesus inform the posture of a Christian’s attitude toward the state? Can it also inform the moral responsibility of civil authority toward its people ?
